The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is an international organization which fosters monetary and financial cooperation and serves exclusively as a bank for central banks. Therefore, it does not accept deposits from, or provide financial services to, private individuals or corporate entities. WebThe designated central bank oversight body for the BIS international financial statistics is the Committee on the Global Financial System (CGFS), which mainly comprises the G10 central banks. Based on the recommendations of the CGFS, the BIS is given responsibility for the collection, production and dissemination of the statistics.
