You can also go with a lower charge of FFFg. You will need to play around to find the powder charge that your barrel likes. (caplock anyhow) U'd probably be ok using the 60 grain load, but don't try 100 grains because pistol powder burn quicker and will increase ur CUP to what may be dangerous levels. the CUP won't be as high in my opinion with round balls. WebJun 4, 2013 · For a 50 cal you could start with a .490 round ball, .010 greased patch and 50 grains of black powder. That makes a good target load. You'll have to play around some to get the best load for your rifle. You may find 45 grains with a .015 patch works better. philly ripper
