WebThe problem is that alacritty is not in the list of colorizable terminals in /etc/DIR_COLORS. This prevents the LS_COLORS variable from being set at all in the system bashrc file. Instead of adding TERM alacritty to /etc/DIR_COLORS I copied /etc/DIR_COLORS to ~/.dir_colors and made the changes there.
